MATHOL-VERNA: Povosao Boys edged past Mungrupoi 2 , 2-1 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of Lazaro D’Silva and Caje Fernandes Memorial inter-ward football tournament, at Mathol football ground, Verna, on Friday.
Both teams remained goalless at the first half.
In the second half, Povosao boys netted through striker Clive Fernandes with a snap shot in the 27th minute while Mungrupoi 2 came from behind and levelled terms through Brian Fernandes in the 38th minute.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Povosao Boys netted through Noel D’Souza and Aston Fernandes while Ivon Fernandes converted for Mungropoi 2.
Povosao Boys will now meet the winners of St Rock, Senaulim and Ambulor 1 on April 22.
