PY Nuvem rout Valankani
CALANGUTE (HC) –Parish Youth, Nuvem trounced Valankani Sports Club, Arambol 3-0 to move into the quarter-finals of Vagator Parish Youth Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Vagator Parish Youth at Ozrant ground, Vagator on Tuesday.
In a fast paced encounter, Nuvem had the first look at the Arambol goal in the 13th minute but a Jose Colaco try off Richard Colaco missed the mark narrowly.
Richard Colaco, however, made amends for the miss scoring in the 20th minute off Neves Noronha, beating the Arambol defense.
Down by a goal, Arambol had a golden opportunity to level the score in the very next minute but Bernard Fernandes missed the sitter.
Gammy Costa doubled the lead for Nuvem in the closing stages of first half off a 15-yard shot.
Changing over, the teams fought well to outdo the other but a defensive lapse by the Arambol team allowed Rosario Noronha to score and give his team a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Down by three goals, Arambol did not give up and fought till the final hooter but were unable to pull one back.
Earlier, the tournament was kicked off by Pedro Mendonca, social worker in presence of the Chairman of Vagator Parish Youth and Parish Priest of Vagator Fr. Cristo Menezes and youth members.
