The teams started in the right earnest but it was Vagator who took the lead in the 20th minute off a powerful strike by Lestar Albuquerque.
Post resumption, Mormugao United put a good fight back with some dangerous moves. They had a glorious opportunity to equalize but striker Abhijeet headed wide with an open target at his mercy.
Five minutes before the final whistle, Vagator finally doubled their advantage as Nitesh Salgaokar delightfully connected the ball that gave no chance to the rival keeper.
