FATORDA: Quepem Veterans defeated Curtorim Veterans 2-1 to enter quarter-finals of the Fatorda Veterans football tournament, played at Don Bosco Oratory ground, Murida-Fatorda, on Thursday.
Curtorim’s goalkeeper Jackson Sequeira did a commendable job under bar as he denied Quepem’s Raimundo D’Souza.
In the 15th minute, Quepem took the lead when Peter Peixoto played a long ball to Raimundo D’Souza, who leapt highest to nod in to make it 1-0.
Two minutes later Curtorim’s Johny D’Cruz sent in a ball to James D’Costa but Quepem defender Dinesh Naik thwarted the move.
In the 19th minute, Quepem doubled the lead through Peter Peixoto’s snap shot.
In the second half, Curtorim pulled a goal back through Jameson Noronha who converted from the penalty spot.
Quepem Veterans will meet Vasco Veterans in the quarter-finals on March 16.
