Raia FC, Benaulim put up good show to grab wins

MAPUSA: Deep Paswan continued to score as Raia FC recorded a 2-1 win over Socio Cultural Club Loutolim in the GFA U-14 League match played, at Artificial Turf ground, Fatorda, on Thursday.
Paswan’s 42nd minute strike proved to be the ultimate match-winner when the two sides were level 1-1 in the game. Raia FC were in thick of action from the first whistle with Velroy Carvalho and Paswan keeping the rival defence at bay.  However, the attack paid dividends as they took the lead in the 3rd minute through Naveen Gautam. Once up by a goal, Raia FC played a defensive game and were soon punished when Melroy Fernandes netted the equalising goal in the 15th  minute when he pushed in Shovin Noronha’s cross. The team were tied 1-1 at the break.
Crossing over, Deep striked when it mattered the most to clinically finish Naveen’s pass to give his side the lead once again, which turned out to be the match-winner.
In another match played at Cavelossim ground, Young Strikers Benaulim won a seven-goal thriller against United Club of Orlim.
YS Benaulim took the lead in the 9th minute through Denell Fernandes and soon doubled the account through Nathan Rodrigues. Enosh Goes inflated the lead for YS Benaulim team.
In what looked like a one-sided affair, suddenly took a surprising turn as the Orlim side pulled two goals back just before the break through Sydroy Gama brace.
Crossing over, UC Orlim soon equalised to get them back into the game through Asher Rodrigues.
However, there was plenty of drama left, as YS Benaulim woke up from slumber and took the lead once again through Cayden Fernandes. Benaulim won 4-3.
