MARGAO: Regina Martyrum Assolna got the better of Loyola HS Margao 4-3 in a nail biting contest, in the first match of round five of the 1st CSC U-10 Futsal League organised by YFA, at Chowgule futsal court, on Saturday.
Captain Tanish Simoes opened the scoring with a stunning strike from the half way line, thereafter Leo Miranda scored an easy tap in to increase the lead. Abner Noronha pulled one back for Loyolas with a neat finsh just before halftime.
Tanish doubled his tally as he made no mistake from the spot. Loyola fought back well as first Leo shot into his own net after pressure from the Loyola attackers and Keegan Crasto their dead ball specialist scored from the spot to bring the teams on level terms.
Brac Fernandes scored late on to give Regina a famous victory over their more Illustrious opponents. Tanish Simoes was adjudged Man of the Match.
Rosary HS Navelim notched up their first win of the League as they hammered St Judes’s Betalbatim 5-0.
Marina English and Manovikas EMS got their first points on board as both teams played an entertaining 1-1 draw.
Perpetual S.Convent Navelim edged out YFA Warriors by 6-5 in the most entertaining technical battle of this round.
YFA Warriors shot into the lead after Aarav Coutinho played a beautiful wall pass with Samuel Dsouza before slotting the ball home from close range. Sakib Shaikh equalized for Perepetual after the striker was left alone and made no mistake putting it across the keeper.
Sakib gave Perepetual the lead as Yohann Sousa kept the warriors in the game with two amazing saves and his efforts paid off as Samuel Dsouza equalised just before half time.
Valen Vaz once again gave Perpetual the lead with a neat placement. The seven-year-old Hezekiah D’silva brought the crowd to their feet as the youngster against all odds bulldozed himself towards the Perpetual goal and poked in the equaliser midway thru the second half to send everyone present into wild celebrations.
Sakib and Valen put some light between themselves and the Warriors as they both scored to make it 5-3.
YFA Warriors’ Aarav scored with a rasping shot after being set up by Samuel and then Samuel himself completed his brace with a top draw finish to level scores at 5-5, and just when the match was heading for a draw Sakib broke Warior hearts as he put finishing touches to a perfect through ball from Valen Vaz to score the winner with thirty seconds remaining.
In the Final match, Kings School edged out Youth Futsal Academy 1-0.
YFA goalkeeper Palash Pai thwarted attack after attack from Kings School Ethan Da silva and Nash Dcosta. Palash was helped by some fantastic defending from captain Vardaan Pathania, Keyaan Kuknoor and Yoel Dcosta.
With this win Kings school have kept themselves in contention of a top two finish.
