PANJIM: Regina Mundi HS Chicalim, Auxilium Convent Taleigao, Fr Agnel HS Pilar, Rosary HS Navelim, Don Bosco HS and Our Lady of Snows HS Raia won their respective matches on the fourth day of Mahindra Youth football, Thursday.
Regina Mundi got the better of Our Lady Mother of Poor HS, Tilamol 2-1 at Quepem ground.
A scramble in the Tilamol goal area saw Wienceo Da Costa tap in to give Regina Mundi the lead in the third minute. Ivan Costa latched on to a through ball from Jovito Carvalho in the 15th minute to restore parity for Our Lady Mother of Poor. The match-winner for Regina
Mundi was scored in the second half by Chris Gonsalves.
At Quitula, Auxilium Convent blanked Lourdes Convent, Saligao 5-0. Auxilium dominated the proceedings and were helped by a brace each from Devendra Murgoankar (third and sixth minutes) and Prajot Mandal (18th and 28th minutes), and a lone strike from Naleon Estrocio in the 24th minute.
In the second match, goals from Jessroy Fernandes in the 15th minute, Suresh Thapa in the 26th minute and Valery D’Souza in the 36th minute helped Fr Agnel thump Our Lady of Grace HS, Bicholim 3-0.
Strong contenders Don Bosco HS routed Sunandabai Bandodkar HS Carambolim 5-0 also at Quitula. Glevito Miranda stood out with three goals to his name. Elman Sequeira and Dayne Britto contributed one each.
Goalkeeper Bosco Lobo’s heroics helped Rosary HS Navelim beat Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Cortalim 4-2 via the tie-breaker in the second match at Quepem. The score was 1-1 at full time.
Jovel Fernandes scored for Rosary HS while Dylan Gama scored for Our Lady of Perpetual Succour.
Our Lady of Snows HS Raia pulled off a major coup, upsetting Loyola HS, Margao 4-2 via the tie-breaker. The teams were locked 2-2 at the end of full half. Danny Fernandes and Josbon Fernandes scored for Snows while Jason Goes and Ralston Fernandes found the net for Loyola.
