Ritviz wins silver for India

PANJIM: Goa’s Ritviz Parab won a silver medal in World Youth Olympiad Chess 2015 held at Ullanbaatar, Mongolia.

The defending champions India had to settle for the silver medal on the lower tie-breaker score against Iran.
The Goan player scored 4.5 points out of six points with excellent performance for the Indian team. He played six games out of 10 and won four, drew one and lost one game.
The Iran team secured the gold medal with eight wins and two draws with 16 points with tie-breaker points of 29.5. 
Whereas, the Indian team also made 16 points with seven wins, two draws and one defeat in the 10 rounds with lower tie-breaker of 29. Russia also secured 16 points and won the bronze medal on better tie-breaker score (27) as against Hungary (26.5).
The other players in the team GM Aravindh Chithambaram (2507) scored seven points out of nine, Muthaiah Al (2185) scored four points out of five, Sai Vishwesh C (2318) scored 6.5 points out 10 games and WFM Vaishali R (2276) scored seven points out of 10 games.
This is the first silver medal secured by a Goan chess player in the team event for India in the World Youth open category. Goa Chess Association has congratulated Ritviz for his performance.
