SANGUEM: Rohit Cricketers, Vasco defeated Siddhivinayak, Usgao by 8 wickets to emerge champs of the Sunshine Trophy all-India Tennis ball cricket tournament organised by Sunshine Cricketers of Bendwada – Sanguem, at Govt. Ground, Sanguem, recently.
Put to bat, Siddhivinayak Cricketers scored 43 for 7 in allotted 6 overs with Mitesh Darbat doing most of the damage as he claimed 4 wickets for just 3 runs. In reply, Rohit Cricketers achieved the target in 4.2 overs with 8 more wickets in hand.
Earlier, Rohit Cricketers defeated Goa Police by 6 runs while Siddhivinayak Cricketers overcome Amazing Margao by 12 runs on the way to final.
The winners were richer by 2,11,000 and a trophy, runners with 1,21,000 and a trophy while losing semi-finalists were given 50,000 each. Sports Minister Babu Azgaonkar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of MLA Digamber Kamat, Deepak Prabhu Pauskar and Prasad Gaonkar.
