Rosary, Fr Agnel advance

Rosary High School, Navelim and Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna advanced into the second round of Salcete Taluka U-14 boys inter-school football tournament at Government ground, Manora, Raia on Thursday.
Rosary made short work of Infant Jesus High School, Cuncolim 3-0. Rosary were leading 1-0 at the breather.
Rosary enjoyed a lion share of exchanges and surged ahead in the early moments of the game when Keegan Fernandes fired home from close range.
The second half did not bring any respite for Infant Jesus as Rosary attacked from both flanks. Nisso Aftlen increased the lead and Suraj Naik drove the last nail into the rival’s coffin.
Fr Agnel, Verna prevailed over St Rita’s High School, Maina 4-3 via the tie-breaker. Both teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation time.
In the penalty shoot out, Elvis Fernandes, Allister Rebello, Cleston Gomes, and Shankar Gaundar were on target for Fr Agnel while Cliffton Barbosa, Guilson Baptista and Milton Rebello converted for St Rita’s.
