VASCO: The St. Andrew’s Church (Vasco) in association with the Archdiocese of Goa and Sports Squad for Christ will host an exhibition football match between South Korean professional team Hallelujah FC and Archbishop’s Goa XI.
Addressing a press conference, Vasco Parish Priest, Fr. Jose Antonio da Costa said that for the first time in the history of football, the port town of
GFA Vice-president Elvis Gomes, GFA Executive Member Savio Messias, Lawrence Gomes, Kennedy D’ Silva, media co-coordinator Adelmo Fernandes, Daily Bread proprietor Andrew Dias and Benardinho Velho were also present.

Elvis disclosed that the club would will arrive in Mumbai on January 18 and will then visit Goa,
“We are expecting about 10,000 football fans for the match. Different committees have been drafted with various responsibilites to see that the match is witnessed by a jam- packed stadium,” said Fr. Costa. “There are some players who have represented the Korean Olympic teams and several of them who have represented the junior Korean
National teams. Lee Young Moo, the head of the delegation, is the head coach and is one of the three founders of the club.”
Former international footballer Lawrence Gomes has been appointed as coordinator. The Goan team will be coached by Mathew D’Costa.
Kennedy D’Silva informed that, in all, eight truck-mounted floodlight towers would be placed around the stadium for the match. These have been specially procured from Kholapur.
“Tickets are available in all churches in Mormugao, besides at Daily Bread outlets in
Goa team: Maclus Mories, Sidesh Morze (goalkeepers), John Dias, Jason Carnero, Keenan Almeida, Marian Fernandes, Terrysion Rebello, Domnic Noronha, Milagres Gonsalves, Rosario Mendez, Johnny D’ Cruz, Fulgencio Cardoz, Ashley Araujo, Pedro Gonsalves and Gabriel Fernandes.
