S M Taleigao lift Verna Panchayat Cup

Sao Minguel de Taleigao swamped  Betalbatim Sporting Club 3-0 to lift the Verna Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organised  by Verna Sports Club  at Verna ground, recently. Taleigao were leading 1-0 at half time.
Taleigao held the upper hand throughout repeatedly raiding the rival citadel. Their aggressive approach paid dividends when Gavin Araujao opened the account with a snap shot.
A lot was expected from Betalbatim, but they disappointed.
Crossing over, Taleigao continued in the same vein with their forwards having a field day. Velencio Peixoto doubled the lead with a stiff grounder soon after resumption and
Gavin Araujao rounded off the tally midway in the second half.
Sao Minguel de Taleigao were richer by Rs 30,000 while Betalbatim Sporting Club had to settle for Rs 15,000.
Mickky Pacheco, MLA was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Zilla Panchayat members Nelly Rodrigues, Wilred D’Sa, GFA member Anthony Pango  and Freda D’Sa, Nuvem Panchayat member.
