PANJIM: Sachin Gaude won the Ponda taluka level open rapid chess tournament organised by Lions Club of Ponda and Matruchhaya’s Bal Kalyan Ashram under the aegis of Ponda Taluka Chess Association, at the Bal Kalyan Ashram, Talaulim, recently.
Devesh Naik, Sathvik Kerkar, Kaushal Naik, Yash Upadhye, Sagar Pednekar, Datta Naik, Swayam Naik, Sadanand Kamat, Avaneeshwar Guin, Rahul Bharadwaj, Vithal Pai, Rudraksh Parab, Govardhan Palekar and Yogesh Paibir secured second to fifteenth place respectively.
Pranay Gaude, Bhavesh Jalmi, Vinayak Patil and Resha Raikar got special prizes among Matruchhaya children.
Other age category winners are: U-13: Sanish Shet, Harsh Kurtikar. U-1 1: Chinmay Zore, Nidhi Gaude. U-9: Parth Kamat, Netra Savaikar. U-7: Chhadin Khedekar, Vrujesh Hande.
Amogh Namshiker, president was the chief arbiter.
Chief guest Sudeep Singh (project chairman), Sagar Sakordekar (president, Bal Kalyan Ashram), Amogh Namshiker (chief arbiter), Vishram Gaonkar (president, Lions Club of Ponda), Anand Kurtikar, Mahesh Khedekar, Nagesh Phadte, Pramod Kamat and Subhash Oak distributed the certificates and trophies.
Sagar Sakordekar compered and Nagesh Phadte proposed the vote of thanks.
