SANGOLDA: Sports Authority of India (SAI) Veterans topped the North Goa League of the 2nd SAI veterans football tournament organised by SAI Veterans Football Association, at Sangolda ground, on Saturday.
The concluding match was played between the hosts SAI and Viva North Veterans ended goalless and SAI topped the league with 4 points from 2 matches
For SAI, Shaikh Niazi, Paixao Gomes, Rafik Bepari and Ashok Satardekar played excellent not giving any chance to Viva North Forwards Allwyin Fernandes and Genive Fernandes Alex Alvares and Avinash Naik played well for SAI in midfield.
For Viva North, Seby D’Costa and Shankar Palyankar played well in defence thus preventing SAI Rosario Carvalho and Frankie Mascarenhas from scoring.
SAI finished on 4 points where earlier winning their against St Anna Veterans, Goa Velha by 4-0 where Rosario Carvalho, Frankie Mascarenhas, Paulo Ameida and Rafik Bepari scored a goal each.
The South Goa league will commence from June 9, at Trinity ground Benaulim with Chinchinim Veterans taking on Verna Veterans.
