Salgaocar FC humble Goa Velha

MAPUSA: Salgaocar Footall club started off the All India Bandodkar Gold Trophy Football Tournament with a big bang, hammering Goal Velha Sports Club by a 15-0 margin organized by GFA, played at Duler stadium, here on Friday.

At halftime Salgaocar led by a huge 10-0 goal advantage.
Salgaocar got down to business right from the start of the match and shot into the lead in the 5th minute of play when Harmanjot Singh and Naro Hari Shrestha played a nice one two and neatly set up Jason Barbosa inside the Goa Velha penalty area who made no mistake to tap the ball home, 1-0.
Within two minutes the winners made it 2-0 through Naro Hari Shrestha- whose blistering long range effort crashed into the Goal Velha goal, 2-0.
Salgaocar’s confidence just seemed to double with each goal where in the 11th minute Myron Borges beat the offside trap to slot in Harmanjot’s through pass, while Six minutes later Liston further inflated the margin for Salgaocar in similar style, 4-0.
Thereon the goal rush continued with Naro Shrestha (18th and 43rd minute), Liston Colaco (20th & 38th minute) and Myron Borges (25th and 45th minute) striking at regular intervals.
Goal Velha custodian Nixon Rodrigues did manage to thwart the efforts of the Salgaocar strikers on several occasions however he too crumbled beneath the relentless pressure put by the Green Brigade.
Crossing over Salgaocar continued from where they had left and fired in five more goals through Naro Hari Shrestha, Myron Borges, Harmanjot Singh, substitute Denil Rebello and Ronaldo Oliveira.
Man-of-the-Match was awarded to Liston Colaco of Salgaocar from the hands of the chief guest Sandeep Falari.
