MAPUSA: Salgaocar Football Club registered a well comfortable 2-0 win over Sesa Football Academy in the U-18 I-League match to secure full points, played at Sirsaim ground, on Thursday.
Salgaocar scored a goal in each session of play through Jordon Borges and Freldon Gomes. Salgaocar lads dominated and should have forged ahead in the 15th minute when Jordon Borges sent a low cross to Sidney Gauncar but Sesa’s keeper Mansur Ali blocked the attempt from close.
Sesa too had a chance to score in the 35th minute where Ashish Chari’s strike missed narrowly.
Three minutes later Salgaocar’s Freldon Gomes sent a pass to Jordon Borges who missed an open sitter.
After much probing Salgaocar broke the deadlock in the 44th minute as Jordon Borges scored from inside the penalty box, 1-0.
On resumption, in the 55th minute Sesa’s Edwin Kalsolkar came with a clumsy tackle on Freldon Gomes prompting referee Ritesh Parsekar to point to the dreaded spot. Freldon stepped forward and scored, 2-0.
Sesa had a chance to reduce the margin in the 59th minute but Clarison Fernandes strike from the penalty spot was saved by Salgaocar keeper Bob Raj.
At the other end Salgaocar had another chance to further increase their lead but Jordon failed to chip over the onrushing Sesa keeper Mansur Ali.
