Salgaocar geared to face E Bengal

Salgaocar Sports Club are geared up to earn three full points when they take on Federation Cup champions East Bengal in an 18th round match of ONGC I-League at Nehru stadium, Fatorda on Monday.
Salgaocar, who have 18 points from 17 matches will go into the match with full strength. Luciano Sabrosa returns to the squad after missing the previous match against Chirag United. Ekene Ikenwa, Keita Mandjpu and Samienia will hope to strike rhythm in the crucial encounter.
Salgaocar’s Moroccan coach Karim Bencherifa was apprehensive about his opponents.
He said: “East Bengal are a very strong side and they have good Indian and foreign players. Hence they cannot be taken lightly.”
“I am confident my boys will carry out our plans and will pick up full points tomorrow. We need to put our best foot forward and plan meticulously,” Karim added
East Bengal, with 21 points from 17 matches will be looking to muster full points. East Bengal’s Belgian coach Philipe de Rider said: “I am happy with the performance of my team but I cannot say the same about the points. Salgaocar is not a team that can be taken lightly especially when they are playing at home.”
Apart from Baichung Bhutia who is nursing an injury, East Bengal will be going into the match with full strength. Ghana’s Yakubu Yusif and Abel Hammond are the men to be watched.
