Salgaocar thump Churchill Bros

Joel Sunday scores a brace while Lenny, Agnelo and Stephen scores a goal each for the Green Brigade; Israil and Willis net for the Red Machines

DULER: Salgaocar Football Club continued their winning streak as they hammered Churchill Brothers Sports Club 5-2 to register their straight ninth win in the Goa Professional League match, organised by Goa Football Association, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Friday.
Salgaocar took just six minutes to open their account as Nigerian striker Sunday calmly slotted the ball at the back of the nylons.
At the other end, Churchill found the equaliser in the 33rd minute when Trinidadian striker Plaza brilliantly cut past a defender in the box and found Israil Gurung who also dribbled past two defenders and shot past Salgaocar keeper S. Rajini Kumar to make it all square for his side.
Salgaocar replied to the equaliser with two quick goals in the closing stage of the first session as defender Lenny Pereira’s fierce shot from 35-yards slightly touched Churchill keeper’s hands and finished in the net, whereas, Nigerian forward Sunday scored his second goal in the 44th minute when Devendra set him up with a superb through pass in the box where Nigerian striker placed the ball in the nylons to make it 3-1 at the half-time. 
After a midfield play in the first 25 minutes of the second session, substitute Agnelo Colaco scored the fourth goal for the Salgaocar in the 71st minutes when Churchill keeper made a mistake to clear a floater from Gilbert Oliveira, taking advantage of the same the substitute striker placed the ball home with his first touch to make it 4-1.
Five minutes later, Trinidadian striker Plaza reduced the margin for Churchill when he made no mistake to place the ball in the net after receiving a through pass from Uttam to make it 4-2 for the Red Machines.
Salgaocar further extended their lead in the 87th minutes when Stephen found the net with a smart placement to make it 5-2 for his side.
