Salgaocar Sports Club claimed top honours in GFA under-16 play-off as they recorded a fluent 4-1 win over Goa United Sports Academy in the final at Nagoa ground, on Thursday. The winners led 1-0 at half time.Salgaocar took off in an attacking mode and maintained the momentum right through. Salgaocar forwards combined well with their midfielders .The Salgaocar defence was compact and showed alertness as they came up with some timely tackles to frustrate the Goa United Sports Academy strikers.Salgaocar started off with a flourish as Edgar Fernandes opened the scoring in the 9th minute. Crossing over, Salgaocar were in total and Tunard Fernandes doubled the lead in the 66th minute. Allwyn Fernandes struck twice in the 79th and 82nd minutes to give Salgaocar a 4-0 cushion..
Soon after resumption, Goa United Sports Academy reduced the margin through Myron Fernandes in the 46th minute.
Salgaocar were richer by Rs 15,000 while Goa United Sports Academy
received Rs 10,000.
