Both the teams began the match on an attacking note, creating a couple of goal scoring opportunities in the very early minutes of the match but their strikers fumbled at the goal.
Saligao SC forged ahead in the 5th minute through the boots of Michael Dias. Trailing by a goal, Candolim SC went all out in search of the equaliser but their forwards failed to beat the last line of defence time and again.
Sachin Chopdekar doubled the lead in the 15th minute with a fine strike.
Down by two goals, Candolim SC tried to regroup and came close to scoring but Saligao SC keeper Washington was equal to his task saving tries from Bhavesh and Nehal.
Changing ends, Nikhil Naik shot past the Candolim SC keeper off a Sachin cross in the 51st minute of play for a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Candolim SC forwards tried to reduce the margin and almost scored a goal but Avinash try was ruled offside by the referee.
Abhijit Gaunekar rounded off the tally in the dying minutes of play. Bhavesh Kandolkar of Candolim SC was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
