VAGATOR: Saligao United Sports Club got the better of Candolim Sports Club 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of the 18th Vagator Soccer Cup, organized by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Ozran ground, on Tuesday.

VAGATOR: Saligao United Sports Club got the better of Candolim Sports Club 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of the 18th Vagator Soccer Cup, organized by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Ozran ground, on Tuesday.
Both the teams started brightly, creating a series of raids on the rival citadel; however their strikers lost ideas on entering the danger zone.
Changing ends, Saligao took the lead in the 53rd minute of play when Earl Sequeira weaved his way past Candolim defense and fired the ball to the far end of the goal, 1-0.
Minutes later Earl Sequeira netted in his brace when he gave finishing touches to Taiwan Travasso’s cross.
Towards the fag end of the match, Candolim were awarded a penalty after Saligao’s Esleny Fernandes dangerously tackled Sigmound Silveira inside the danger zone prompting the referee to point to the dreaded spot. 
Terance D’Mello stepped forward and made no mistake in converting, 2-1.
