CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim Union defeated Maina SC 6-3 in the GFA Second Division League match, played at Cuncolim ground, on Friday.
Just 3 minutes into the match, Cuncolim Union opened the account through Necil Pinto off an assist from Nash Pereira. The young striker placed the ball into open net when he caught Maina SC keeper Christo Hilario out of position.
Nash Pereira should have easily scored two goals for Cuncolim in the 6th and 9th minutes, but the latter shot blindly into the safe hands of rival goalkeeper on both occasions.
At the half hour mark, Cuncolim keeper Oswin Rodrigues pulled of a stunning save to deny Myson Fernandes the equaliser.
Cuncolim doubled the lead in the 36th minute through Samson Simoes with a placement shot off Necil Pinto assist.
Crossing end, Maina SC started strongly and scored through Agnes Vaz in the 47th minute.
However, Cuncolim regrouped quickly and scored two quick goals through Samson Simoes and Necil Pinto to make it 4-1.
In the 64th minute, Samson completed his hat-trick with a sublime finish.
Maina SC attacked in search of goals and managed to reduce margin by netting two goals through Cajetan Fernandes and Melton Rebello in the 83rd and 86th minute respectively.
Finally Samson Simoes made it 6-3 for Cuncolim Union in the 90th minute.
At Ambelim ground, YC Manora blanked SWC, Zaino 3-0.
Dadapeer Patel scored a brace for Maina SC in the 35th and 38th minute while Clifford Fernandes scored the other for YC Manora in the 74th minute.
At Navelim ground, Mandopa SC blanked Fr Agnel YC, Paroda 2-0.
Alvito Colaco opened the account in the 59th minute, while William Niasso made it 2-0 for Mandopa SC in the 70th minute.
At Velsao ground, Velsao Sports and Cultural Club defeated Parish Youth Association, Consua, 4-1.
Richard Rodrigues opened the account for Velsao in the 42nd minute, while Jovet Barreto scored a brace for Velsao in the 47th and 68th minute.
Denzil Fernandes pulled a goal back for Consua in the 70th minute.
Ronil Azavedo made it 4-1 for Velsao in the 79th minute.
