MAPUSA: Sangolda Lightning Club edged past Sinquerim Sports Club 4-1 in 8th All-Goa Pio Jose Goveia memorial football tournament organized by Youth Sports Club of Colvale at church ground, Colvale, Tuesday. The teams were locked goalless at full time.
It was a dull affair as neither teams produced any thrills. It was only in the second session that Sangolda came close to break the deadlock but Ranjit Naik’s long ranger sailed inches over.
However, Sangolda kept their cool in the penalty shoot-out and scored through Sawanand, Yogesh, Joseph and Samson while only Anant converted for Sinqueirm. Sinquerim’s Pandurang Korgaonkar was adjudged man-of-the-match.
