PANJIM: Sanjay Thorat of Regina Mundi School clinched the All-Mourmugao Open Rapid Chess title, organized by Shree Saibhakt Mandal, Sada in CHLD hall, MPT Colony-Sada, recently.
There were 64 participants among which 21 players were international ELE rated. In the last round, Sanjay settled for a draw against Bhimappa Harijan to remain unbeaten, thus winning the title in tie-break as Datta Kambli (2nd) and Anirudh Parsekar (3rd) were also on same points.
Other prize winners are as follows 4 to 10-,4th. Sanjil Hoble,5th Bhimappa Harijan,6th Sudhakar Patgar,7th NaviN Morajkar, 8th Sahil Desai, 9th Advait Dhavlikar,10th Ayush Shetkar. Best U-7:-1st Shubh Kalangutkar 2nd Valanka Fernandes, 3rd Aditya Tari. U-9: 1st Reubern Barrett, 2nd Aarush Pandey, 3rd Kadkol Ganesh. U-11: 1st Utkarsh Ganpule, 2nd Kalangutkar Sai, 3rd Yashsai Desai. U-13: 1st Fadte Rudresh, 2nd Akhilesh Nigaley, 3rd Kshaunish Naik. Youngest player: Ikra Sarfaraz.
The prizes were given by chief gust J Jayalakshmi in the presence of guest of honour Krishna Daji Salkar, Kishor Bandekar, Mr. Sanjay Kavlekar, Swapnil Hoble, Vasant Naik, Vazradhar Kalangutkar and other dignitaries.
