PANJIM: Sanjib Hazra and Viren Mahale emerged champions of the Invitation Badminton tournament organized by Creative Peoples Club, Santa Cruz, recently. In the first semi-final, Bruno and Gyanesh from Santa Cruz got the better of favourites Atish and Dinesh from Chorao 12/15, 15/11 & 15/12.
In the second semi-final Sanjib and Viren from Panjim had to sweat it out against powerhouse Ashwin and Venturo 12/15, 15/13 & 15/8.
It the final, it was a tough fight in the first set as the winners won after a fierce battle 20/18 & 15/8.
The third place was won by Ashwin and Venturo.
The prizes were given away by Rudolf Fernandes.
