PANJIM: Sanquelim Eagles beat Valpoi SCC by 16 runs to lift the late Abdulla Gazi Memorial Cup Cricket tournament, at MCG Mamzar ground, Dubai, recently.
Sanquelim Eagles won the toss and elected to bat and scored 41 runs in 4 overs. Irfan (11) farhan (10) and babool (10), while Nadeem took threed wickets for Valpoi SCC.
Younus took 2 wkts in his first over while Xer Khan and Farhan taking a wicket each for Sanquelim SC curbed down Valpoi SCC’ chase and stopped them at 25.
Azhar of Valpoi SCC was declared as the man-of –the-series and best bowler, Sayed Badi of Ponda Boys was adjudged as the best batsman while Farhan Khan of Sanquelim Eagles was awarded as the man-of-the-finals.
Umar Gazi was the chief guest and gave away the winning trophy, while Salim Xec was the guest of honour. Mushtaq Gazi, PA Shaikh, Sayed Yakub, S Murad, Aslam Sadat, Shaikh Idris were the other dignitaries present for the final presentation.
