PANJIM: Sanquelim Eagles defeated Sanquelim Boys World XI by 31 runs to clinch Al Maasa Cup, at DP World Cricket ground, Jebel Ali, Dubai, recently.
Sanquelim Boys World XI won the toss and put Sanquelim Eagles to bat, Eagles batsmen took the advantage of the field as they scored runs with ease. Farhan Khan scored 27 to take Eagles to 62 in five overs.
Chasing the target was not easy under the lights as the Eagles bowlers rattled the Sanquelim Boys World XI batsmen and wickets started falling at regular intervals. Yunus Shaikh, Mukhtiyar Rahman, Farhan Khan, Feroz Aga and Xer Khan put up a good show.
Nine teams participated in the tournament.
The following prizes were awarded:
Man-of-the-Final: Farhan Khan (Sanquelim Eagles).
Best bowler: Sayed Nizam (JTGT), Best batsman: Sabir Usman (Kakeez Margao), Man-of-the-Series: Sayed Badi (Sanquelim Boys World XI)
The third and fourth places were bagged by Leopisc Panjim Warriors and Kakeez Margao respectively.
Mohammed Ashpak Ahmed was the chief guest and gave away the prizes.
