MAPUSA: Players from Sanquelim centre had a field day in junior boys (non-ranked players) section at the 1st Goa Badminton Convention, organised by Mapusa Shuttlers and Panjim Smashers Club in collaboration with the Goa Badminton Association and DSYA at Sports Complex Peddem, on Sunday.
The Sanquelim players swept the winners and runners-up places with some outstanding performances. Omkar Fulari won the U-19 boys singles and later teamed up with Abhishek Swamy to win the boys doubles title. Pranav Rane emerged runner-up in U-19 boys singles. In the boys doubles, Pranav Rane and Suraj Naik secured the runners-up place after losing out in a hard fought singles. The third and fourth place medals were won by: Rohit Kartik and Swapnil Mahadeshwar in U-19 boys singles and Lester Barreto / Yash Desai and Swapnil Mahadeshwar / Samarth Kamat in boys doubles.
