PANJIM: A delightful performance from Aston Dias helped 1st Second Bairo St Cruz thump St Thomas (25-22, 28-26) to clinch the 8th All-UK Goan inter-village Volleyball Rolling Cup organized by Star boys of Swindon at county ground, UK, recently.
In the semi finals 1st Second Bairo beat defending champion Modern Boys Navelim and St Thomas defeated Wembley Boys St Cruz.
The winners were awarded Rs 70,000 and the runners-up had to content with Rs 50,000.
Aston Dias was adjudged Best player of the tournament while Levino Pereira received the best lifter award while Velanco Coelho was declared best defender, 13ra Boys Merces was awarded the best decipline team.
Carlos Fernandes was the chief guest and Shela D`costa was the guest of honour, Anton Babu, Matin Afonso were other dignitaries who shared the dais.
