UTORDA: Sao Jose de Areal defeated SC Davorlim 1-0 to clinch the 25th Lourdes Festival Trophy organised by United Club of Utorda in association with SAG Panjim, at SAG ground, Utorda, on Sunday.
In an equally contested match, Alviton Silva of Areal netted the only goal and the match in the 29th minute with a placement shot.
In the second half, SC Davorlim tried to equalise through Venson Figuerido and Joel Colaco but Areal’s keeper Joseph Monteiro was brilliant under the bar.
The winners were awarded Rs 40,000 plus trophy while the runners-up bagged Rs 30,000 plus trophy.
Chief Minister of Goa Manohar Parrikar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the prizes to winners and runners up in the presence of MLA of Nuvem Constituency Wilfred D’Sa, ZP Member Nelly Rodrigues, Executive director of SAG V. M. Prabhudessai, Sarpanch of VP Majorda Agnelo Pereira, Francis Moraes and other dignatries.
