VARCA: Sao Jose de Areal ousted St Anthony Sports Club by a solitary goal to lift the Varca inter-village Panchyat Cup, organised by Village Panchayat Varca in association with Varca Sports Club, at Varca SC ground, on Sunday.
It was Vishal Fernandes who netted the match winning goal in the 46th minute for Sao Jose de Areal.
The winners were awarded Rs 60,000 plus trophy while the runners -up collected Rs 40,000 plus trophy.
The losing semi-finalists CAC Sports and Social and Navelim Villagers Union received Rs.5000 each.
Fr Candido Fernandes, Parish Priest of Varca Church was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Manuelio Rodrigues, Asst priest of Varca Church, Joaquim M D’Silva (Referees officer of South GFA), Socorro Coutinho (Ex .Footballer and Ex.Dempo Coach),Sham Gauli (Former youth development coach of Churchill Bros and Premier skill coach educators British Council) and other dignitaries.
