MARGAO: Youth of Sarzora Sports Club drubbed XYZ, Baida 5-0 to advance into the quarter-finals of Chinchinim Villagers football tournament organized by Union of Chinchinim Villagers at church ground, Chinchinim, Saturday. Youth of Sarzora led 2-0 at half time.
In an one-sided affair right from the word go, the Sarzora lads terrorized the rival defenders with Ryan Fernandes, Jolax Fernandes and Molvin Fernandes excelling upfront. Sarzora took the lead in the early moments when Ryan Fernandes slammed the ball to the far corner of the net.
Spurred by the early success, Sarzora teased and tormented the rival defence and put the opponents on the defensive. Molvin Fernandes doubled the lead midway in the first half.
The second half did not bring any respite for Baida. Sarzora did not have to wait long to score the third goal when Molvin bulged the net soon after resumption. Jolax Fernandes struck twice to decimate Baida.
Anug Viegas of Baida was declared man-of-the-match.
