CARMONA: Sarzora SC blanked Navelim Villagers Union 2-0 to lift the 2nd Carmona Village Panchayat Cup, organised by Carmona SC, at Carmona VP ground, on Sunday.
Nigel Fernandes scored the first goal in the 13th minute to put Sarzora ahead. Seven minutes later, Aston Fernandes doubled the lead for Sarzora.
In the second half, Navelin Villagers tried their level best but their strikers let them down.
The winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs 40,000 while the runners-up were awarded Rs 30,000 plus trophies.
Churchill Alemao, GFA President and MLA of Benaulim constituency was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners up in the presence of Allwyn George, sarpanch of VP Carmoma, Fr Saude Pereira, parish priest of Carmona church, Fr Luis Pinto, priest at Carmona church, Fr.Rosario Oliveira assistant priest of Carmona church and other dignitaries.
