MARGAO : Sporting Club of Davorlim overcome CAC, Cansualim 1-0 to advance into the quarter-finals of South Goa Mcdowell’s No. 1 Yaari Premier Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Cuncolim Union, at government school playground, Cuncolim, on Thursday
Sporting Club of Davorlim started the game on positive note and constantly troubled the rival defence with sporadic raids .
CAC, Cansualim failed to put up a show as they rarely troubled the rival defence.
The lone goal of the match came in the 24th minute of the game when striker Joel Colaco unleashed a power packed shot which crashed into the net as CAC Cansulim goalkeeper Prabhakar Kattimani stood hands down.
Post resumption, SC Davorlim continued to dictate terms and could not add to their tally as their forwards ran out of ideas after reaching the rival danger zone.
CAC, Canasualim who were subdued in the first half were more dominant and lunched flurry of attacks with pintsized striker Agnelo D’Souza harassing the rival defenders with speed and dash however they were unlucky as SC Davorlim goalkeeper Venson Figureido was in his elements and thwarted Agnelo D’Souza.
With time running out, CAC Cansualim went all out in search of equalizer but again Venson Figuriedo denied Santan Vaz a sure goal.
Joel Colaco of SC Davorlim was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
