BENAULIM: SC Davorlim outplayed Rossman Cruz Nagoa, Verna 4-2 via tie-breaker to storm into the semi-finals of the 4th St Sebastian trophy football tournament, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Friday.
When the going gets tough the tough gets going, this is what happened between SC Davorlim and Rossman Cruz teams as both the teams fought a one on one battle with Savio Fernandes for Rossman Cruz and Paxton Gomes of SC Davorlim making moves upfront in the first half.
Paxton Gomes of SC Davorlim had a good opportunity in the 3rd minute itself but Noel D’Silva defender of Rossman Cruz cleared the ball to safety. There after Savio Fernandes after dribbling Milton Rocha of SC Davorlim moved ahead but Venson Figuerido goalkeeper of SC Davorlim saved it in the 12th minute. Beneston Fernandes of Rossman Cruz took control of the ball which was supplied by Ajoy Satarar in the 16th minute but Leaser Raikar of SC Davorlim foiled his move.
It was Rossman Cruz Nagoa with Savio Fernandes connecting to a short pass to Rexon Fernandes on the edge of SC Davorlim box after dodging Milton Rocha of SC Davorlim, Rexon blasted a pin pointed shot passing in between Leaser Raikar and Milton of Davorlim which travelled to the right far corner of the SC Davorlim net in the 20th minute.
Crossing over, SC Davorlim came from behind to level the scores as Milton Rocha of a connect from the corner kick of Vincent Colaco, in the 68th minute, directed the ball past the keeper, 1-1.
In the resultant tie-breaker SC Davorlim netted through Romeo Colaco, Milton Rocha and Paxton Gomes while Pecpor Barretto converted for Rossman Cruz Nagoa.
SC Davorlim will meet Parish Youth Nuvem in the semi-final clash on August 3.
