SAO JOSE DE AREAL: SC Davorlim outplayed Curtorim Gymkhana 4-2 via the tie-breaker to enter into the semi-final of the 38th Areal Panchayat inter-village football tournament, organised by Sao Jose de Areal SC, at Padribhat ground, on Wednesday.
Curtorim’s Aliston Fernandes was in the thick of action and just in the 10th minute took a power-packed shot but failed to convert.
It was Curtorim’s goal scoring machine Milagres Fernandes who was prowling inside Davorlim box and gave the finishing touches with a glancing header and landed the ball inside Davorlim net in the 25th minute off a cross from Joliston Fernandes, but the joy was short-lived as Davorlim’s Mack Borges equalised in the 40th minute with an arrow bound shot.
In the tie-breaker, SC Davorlim netted through Paxton Gomes, Ryan Furtado, Robinson Colaco and Venson Furtado while Ferdinand Fernandes and Neville Fernandes scored for Curtorim Gymkhana.
SC Davorlim will meet the winner of Cuncolim Union and St Rock YC Majorda in the semi-final.
