MAPUSA: Sesa Football Academy rallied to overpower Salgaocar Football Club 2-1 in a GFA’s U-18 First Division football league match at Sesa FA ground, Sirsaim, Sunday. The teams were locked 1-1 at half time.
After six outings, Salgaocar have 13 points while Sesa climb to 10 points.
The visitors started in right earnest and surged ahead in the 14th minute through Jason Vaz, who skilfully got the better of a rival defender and the keeper to coolly slot home into an empty goal.
Sesa regrouped quickly and could have equalized soon but Marc D’Cruz was unlucky to see his rasping effort hit the crossbar. They then levelled terms in the 35th minute as striker Josley Dias sent in a well-measured cross to Kritesh Gadekar, who finished with a delightful volley, 1-1.
In the second session, the teams tried hard in search of the match-winner and it eventually came in favour of the home team. Aaron D’Silva powerfully headed in off a Reagan Fernandes cross, 2-1.
