PANJIM: Sharada English High School, Marcel and Government Higher Secondary School, Khandola emerged champions in the State Sub-Junior Under-16 and 19 (boys) Tennis Ball Cricket Championship, organized by Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association in collaboration with Sports Authority of Goa, at United Sports Club ground, Mardol, recently.
While Wagle High School, Mangueshi and Hedgewar HS, Panjim were placed second and third.
Best batsman: Shubam Naik, Wagle HS, Mangueshi. Best bowler (boys): Adhishesh Honawar, Sharada English HS.
In under-19, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim and
Kamaxi Higher Secondary School, Ponda secured second and third position.
Best batsman: Shramesh, Government HSS, Khandola. Best bowler (boys): Jatin, Don Bosco HSS.
In the under-16 girls champions, Saraswati High School, Santo Estevam bagged the first place while the second and third place were bagged by Wagle High School, Mangueshi.
Best batswoman: Muskan Phadte, Saraswati HS, Santo Estevam. Best bowler (girls): Priya Naik, Wagle HS.
In the under-19, Shrimati High School, Velguem topped while Wagle High School, Mangueshi and Government Higher Secondary School, Khandola-Marcel won the second and third place.
Best batswoman: Neha Chari, Shrimati HS. Best bowler (girls): Yashoda Kathyat, Shrimati HS.
Chief Guest Namdev Shirgaokar, vice-president, TBCFI and executive member, IOA alongwith Damodar Naik, sarpanch, Priol Village Panchayat; Adv Varad Mardolkar, panch, Priol VP; Ranganath Kunkolikar, panch; Dr Ghansham Mardolkar, Rupesh Naik, secretary, GTBCA; Zogussa Naik Uskaikar, vice-president, GTBCA; Anil Chari, convenor, Bicholim taluka distributed cash prizes, trophies, medals and mementos to the successful teams and players.
On the occasion, Namdev Shirgaokar, Rupesh Naik were felicitated by the association for their achievements in tennis ball cricket at State and National level by presenting them with Ganesh idol, gift and a shaul by Dr Ghansham and Damodar Naik.
