MASHEM: Shradhanand Vidyalaya, Paingin won the VIIIth Shubham Naik Memorial Cricket tournament by defeating S.S. Angle Higher Secondary School, Mashem by 63 runs organised by Canacona Sports Academy played at Nirakar Sports Complex, Mashem, recently.
After winning the toss S S Angle elected to bowl. Shradhanand Vidyalaya scored 164 for 5 in 20 overs. Pranav Kamat was the top scorer with 58 runs while Shaunak Painginkar managed to score 48 runs. Vishal Bhandari remained not out on 18. Angle’s Ratik Naik scalped 4 wickets for 17 runs while Yash Kankonkar picked up a wicket.
In reply, Angle were bundled out for 101 in 17.3 overs. Raj Prabhudesai was their top scorer with 32 runs while Ratik Naik, Yash Kankonkar and Subesh Naik Desai scored 13, 12 and 12 runs respectively. Poornay Chari scalped 4 wickets for 26 runs. Nehal Chari and Pritam Gaonkar managed to pick up 2 wickets each while Pranav Kamat and Akshay Namshikar a wicket each.
The chief guest was Isidore Fernandes MLA Canacona constituency who gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up. The function was presided over by Daya Pagi, General Secretary Goa Cricket Association. The individual prizes were awarded as follows: Man of the match first semi-final: Raj Prabhudesai (Angle HSS), Man of the match second semi final: Poornay Chari (Shradhanand Vidyalaya), Man of the Match Final: Poornay Chari (Shradhanand Vidyalaya), Best Batsman of the tournament: Raj Prabhudesai (Angle HSS), Best bowler of the tournament: Poornay Chari (Shradhanand Vidyalaya), Man of the tournament: Poornay Chari (Shradhanand Vidyalaya).
