Simpliz Boys Chandor clinch Shawn Memorial Cup

NAGOA-PARRA: In a resounding victory in the final, Simpliz Boys Chandor clinched the Shawn Memorial Cup, a 5-a-side football tournament, recently. 

Simpliz Boys Chandor’s outstanding performance led to a staggering 13-2 win over Siolim United. The final, witnessed the participation of 20 competitive teams, culminating in an impressive showcase of skill and sportsmanship.

Simpliz Boys Chandor, received a cash award of Rs 20,000 along with a trophy. Meanwhile, the runners-up Siolim United took home a cash prize of Rs 10,000, with a trophy.

Individual achievements added to the tournament’s excitement, with Spiro from Baklava United honoured as the best striker and Royston Rodrigues of Simpliz Boys Chandor as the best goalkeeper. Shawn Pereira, also from Simpliz Boys Chandor claimed the award of player of the tournament, demonstrating exceptional talent and expertise throughout the competition.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Calangute MLA Michael Lobo and deputy sarpanch of Parra. 

The tournament organised by friends of Shawn Michael Fernandes in honour of his birthday, served as a commemoration of Shawn’s life and his love for football, following his tragic passing in September.
