MAPUSA: Sinquerim SC, Mayem, entered the final of Augustias Sporting Cup inter-village soccer with a 2-1 win over Assonora United Football Club, at Pomburpa ground, on Monday.
Sinquerim SC scored their first goal in the 17th minute of play through Siddharth Palni with a neat placement 1-0. Sinquerim SC increased their lead in the second half through a goal from Saimesh Gaonkar, who dribbled past host of Assonora United FC defenders to put the ball into the corner of the net, 2-0. Assonora United FC reduced the margin through a brilliant free-kick taken by Sunny Parab, 2-1.

In the dying minutes of play, Assonora United FC players exerted pressure on the opponent but failed to equalise. Sinquerim SC’s Saimesh Gaonkar bagged the man-of-the-match award which was handed over by Nobert Serrao, vice-president of Augustias SC.
