MAPUSA: Siolim Sodiem Club scored a thumping 6-0 win over close rivals FC Siolim in the GFA’s Second Division League football match, at Duler Stadium, here, on Thursday. At the breather, Sodiem led by a comfortable 4-0 margin.
Sodiem got into the offensive mode right at the start of the match, however, Joeliff Simoes, Sachidanand Satelkar and Sanket Jotkar failed to score from hand-shaking distance.
After several missed chances, Sodiem shot into the lead in the 17th minute when Sanket controlled the ball and fired in a powerful left-footer which had no answer from the rival keeper.
In the 33rd minute, Sanket further inflated the margin for Sodiem by coolly tapping home the ball from close range.
Ten minutes later, the opportunistic striker completed his brace, scoring through a solo effort.
That did not cease Sodiem’s appetite for goals and a minute before the breather Joeliff made it 4-0, when he rose high to nod in Sachidanand’s corner.
On resumption, FC Siolim tried hard to get back into the match, however Sodiem proved to be impenetrable.
In the final 10 minutes, Sodiem fired in two more goals through Canute Souza and Sudhir Shirodkar to round off the score tally to 6-0.
