PANJIM: Hosts Taekwondo Academy of Vasco emerged victorious at the 1st All-Goa State Taekwondo championship, at Railway Community hall, Vasco, recently.
More than 450 students from nine clubs participated.
The overall team championship trophy was won by the Taekwondo Academy of Vasco, coached by Mahadev Chavan.
The second place went to RCC Fatorda, which is coached by Theophile Lowe and the third position was awarded to RCC Ponda, headed by coach Sunil Sharma.
Being a result oriented sport, students do not get more taekwondo competitions throughout the year and the main purpose was to give them a platform to showcase their talent.
The championship was conducted in U-8, U-12, U-14 and U-17 years Boys and Girls categories. The students battled for 75 gold, 75 silver and 150 bronze medals.
On Sunday, the U-8 and U-17 category for Boys and Girls was conducted while the
U-12 year category competition was held on the following day and the U-14 category competition was conducted on Tuesday.
