CALANGUTE: Siolim Sodiem Sports and Cultural Club grounded Holy Cross Arambol 3-1 to move into the semi-finals of 10th Anjuna-Caisua Village Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Chapora Yuvak Sangh, at Chapora ground, Wednesday.
After a goalless first half, Arambol forged ahead in the 39th minute through Salvador D’souza. Down by a goal, Sodiem went all out and restored parity in the 43rd minute with Pushparaj Mandrekar finding the net much to the delight of his teammates and supporters.
Mukund Shinde put Sodiem ahead, scoring in the 47th minute. Francis Fernandes then made it 3-1 in the final minutes.
