PANJIM: Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club edged past Mandopa Sports Club 4-2 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the 17th All Goa Inter Village Football Tournament for the Immaculate Conception Cup organized by ICSC, Paroda, at Avedem panchayat ground, on Thursday. The teams were locked 2-2 at full time.
Areal shot into the lead in the 14th minute through Alvito Mauro.
In the second half it was Mandopa all the way with Sandy Colaco equalizing.
Then in the 49th minute, Mandopa took the lead off a goal by Alvito Colaco to the cheers of their supporters. Not to be undone and putting a fight Areal’s Raymond scored one of the best goals of the tournament to make the score 2-2 at full time.
In the tie-breaker, Tiago Antao and Monty Valadares scored for Areal while Areal keeper Aggio Antao saved all the penalty kicks of Mandopa to take his team into the final of the tournament.
