SM Taleigao edge past Adarsh YS

Clube Sao Minguel de Taleigao prevailed over Adarsh Yuvak Sangh, Saligao 6-5 via the tie-breaker after both teams were involved in a 1-all draw to move into the quarter-finals of Anjuna-Caisua Panchayat Cup Inter-Village football tournament organised by Chapora Yuvak Sangh at Chapora ground on Monday.
Adarsh began the match on a promising note and shot into lead in the 13th minute off a penalty by Claude Dias.  The referee awarded the penalty as Sandesh Chopdekar was brought down in the ‘D’ by Daniel.  Claude Dias made no mistake with the resultant kick.
Changing over, Taleigao fought back and restored parity through Valencio Estrocio in the 38th minute.  Both teams thereafter went all out in search of the winner but a goal eluded them. 
With the scores even, the match was decided on penalties.  Taleigao kept their nerves to get the better of Adarsh 5-4.  Lavino Pereira, Cedric Peixeto, Valencio Estrocio, Jeffrey D’Souza and Vardhan Haldankar converted for Taleigao while Jayesh Chopdekar, Domingos Fernandes, Claude Dias and Merwyn Britto netted for Adarsh.
