NAGOA: Sonarvaddo Boys got the better of Pimpalwaddo Boys 4-2 via the tie-breaker to lift the Nagoa Panchayat Inter-Ward Cup in the final of the Nagoa panchayat inter-ward football tournament, played at Nagoa Panchayat ground, Verna, on Sunday .
Alwin netted the opening goal for Pimpalwaddo with a snap shot in the 3rd minute but the joy was short-lived as within 11 minutes Jesuino Pereira equalised for Sonarwaddo with a placement shot.
Both the teams tried their level best to find the match winner but their strikers lacked sharpness as they fumbled in the final third.
In the tie-breaker, Sonarvaddo netted through Jesuino, Ivan, Johnson and Jaysn while Renoy and Myron scored for Pimplwaddo.
The winners were awarded Rs.10,000 while the runners-up received Rs. 8,000 plus trophies. Wilfred D’Sa, MLA of Nuvem constituency was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of other dignitaries.
