PANJIM: Celebrating their success in the GFA leagues, Sporting Clube de Goa organised a special party and awards evening for the youth teams at BAY-15, at Odxel, recently.
The Junior Oranje emerged champions in the GFA U-18 and the GFA U-20(TACAGoa), while the U-16 team emerged runners-up in the GFA league.
The awards for the season 2016-2017 were presented as follows:
U-16: Highest Scorer: Aman Govekar (16 goals), Emerging Player: Dattaraj Gaonkar and and Player of the season: Jayson Fernandes.
U-18: Highest Scorer: Princeton Rebello (12goals), Emerging Player: Joston Cardozo and Player of the season: Cassel D Souza.
U-20 (Taca Goa): Highest Scorer: Akiraj Martins (5 goals), Emerging Player: Alston Camotio and Player of the season: Myron Fernandes.
Junior Players on Loan for GFA First Division: Joint Highest Scorers: Snedden Rodrigues, Akiraj Martins and Daryl Costa (7 goals each), Emerging Player: Gautam Dias and Player of the season: Joel Colaco.
Goalkeeper Akshat Hadkonkar received a special award for playing in three competitions, U-16, U-18 and GFA 1st Division, while Savio Vaz coach of both the champion teams was awarded as the coach of the season.
The awards were presented at the hands of Sporting Head of Youth Development Shekar Kerkar, Technical Director Peter Valles, Head Coach Mateus Costa, Junior Team Manager Anthony Vaz, Physio Sandesh Gadekar, Competitions Director Angelo Albuquerque and CEO Victor Fernandes.
