Sporting Clube hails Rowlin for AIFF award

PANJIM: Following his recent success at the national platform, Sporting Clube de Goa has congratulated Rowlin Borges on bagging the AIFF Emerging Player of the Year award at the AIFF Awards function held in Mumbai recently.

PANJIM: Following his recent success at the national platform, Sporting Clube de Goa has congratulated Rowlin Borges on bagging the AIFF Emerging Player of the Year award at the AIFF Awards function held in Mumbai recently. 
“We at Sporting Clube de Goa congratulate (him) Rowlin on this momentous achievement. We wish him the best for the future and will always consider him as one of our own, a part of the Sporting Clube family.” Said Sporting Clube de Goa in a release.
A product of the Sporting Clube’s youth system Rowlin joined the Club in 2007 as a 15-year-old cub with prodigious talent. 
With Rowlin Borges as the playmaker Sporting Clube’s Youth teams under the tutelage of Coach Severino Fernandes, went on to win the GFA U-18 League, the GFA (TACA Goa) U-20 , and also became the first Goan team to win the Junior-I League when they beat East Bengal in the final at Kolkata in season 2009-2010.
Rowlin spent nine seasons with the Clube, rising quickly through the youth ranks to be an integral part of the Club’s first team and maturing under Coaches like Alex Alvares, Roy Baretto, Vishwas Gaonkar, Clifford Chukwuma, Mathew Costa and the Spaniard Oscar Burzon.
The box-to-box midfielder with his accurate passing ability got the expected call up for the National team and made his debut on August 31, 2015 in an International friendly against Nepal. 
He then played in the SAFF Suzuki Cup held at Thiruvananthapuram in December, 2015. He scored his first goal for the country in that tournament in the match against Nepal and has since cemented his place with the Blue Tigers under Coach Stephen Constantine with 18 caps till date.
At the end of season 2015-2016 having received a lucrative offer from ISL Club NEUFC Rowlin was released by Sporting Clube . 
After the ISL Rowlin he joined East Bengal for the I League.
