Sporting Clube humble Curtorim Gym 11-0

MARGAO: Sporting Clube de Goa were no match as they outplayed Curtorim Gymkhana 11-0 in the Taca Goa U-20 Football league match, at the artificial turf ground, outside Nehru Stadium, here, on Saturday. They led 3-0 at half time.

MARGAO: Sporting Clube de Goa were no match as they outplayed Curtorim Gymkhana 11-0 in the Taca Goa U-20 Football league match, at the artificial turf ground, outside Nehru Stadium, here, on Saturday. They led 3-0 at half time. 
Sporting Clube dominated the proceedings and also scored goals with striving efforts.
In the 19th minute, Sporting Clube opened the floodgates through Akeraj Martins’ powerful grounder which crushed into the nylons of Curtorim Gymkhana off a supply by Daryl Costa.
In the very next minute, Sporting Clube doubled their lead as Harshad Naik unleashed a long ranger after receiving a pass from Shubert D’Costa. 
Curtorim Gymkhana did not lose heart and tried to make a comeback but Jadson Fernandes’ promising move was foiled by Sporting Clube defender Franzil Negredo.
As the match progressed, Sporting Club made it 3-0 as Harshad secured his brace with a well composed shot in the 40th minute off a supply by Jesmon Soares.
In the second session, Sporting Clube were all over with the lion’s share of ball possession and scored eight times.
In the 58th minute, medio Quan Gomes scored the fourth goal with a spectacular bicycle kick off an assist by Harshad.
Subsequently, in the 65th minute, substitute Delbert Fernandes made it 5-0 off a supply by Harshad and Akeraj secured his brace in the 69th minute with a deft placement.
Curtorim Gymkhana continued to defend bravely but their citadel fell once again for the seventh time as Delbert curled the ball past the rival custodian in the 79th minute.
Delbert secured his hat-trick in the 85th minute with a solo effort while Prisco Moura made it 9-0 with a grounder.
There was no stopping for Delbert as he secured his fourth goal of the evening with a powerful grounder and in the dying minutes, Akeraj added another goal to round off the tally. 
Speaking to Herald after the match Sporting Clube coach, Norbert Gonsalves said, “I am happy that the boys won and they will improve much more for the next match.”
On the other hand, Curtorim Gymkhana coach, Alex Fernandes felt his team put up a brave fight against their fancied opposition. 
“The boys did a good job. We are a village team but will take the positives from this match and improve in our next game.”
